The Capital City Republicans (CCRs) celebrated the first annual Ted Stevens Day in honor one of the greatest Alaskans of all time on the 24th of July 2011. The fourth Saturday of July was legally designated by Governor Sean Parnell and the Alaska Legislature earlier this year as Ted Stevens Day. Over a hundred Alaskans came to the community picnic at Sandy Beach in Douglas to celebrate the memory of the late U.S. Senator Ted Stevens and the countless good things he did for the Great Land. Celebrations were also held in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Nome, and Skagway and the CCRs look forward to celebrating this great day in future years!
